3. Answers:

ü         http://freewebs.com/weddinggowns4angels/  please read here for more details.

Ø      Question: What types of yarn and materials are safe to use?

4. Answers:

ü      We ask that you always use soft and gentle yarns for babies. (Do not use wool type yarns if you are making items for premature babies) With children they like many different type’s and colors of yarn. No real no, no’s on children.

ü      If you are making items for premature infants, please do not use metal zippers or snaps. These items can get very hot when in the isolate beds with lights and may burn babies skin.

ü      Please do not use long ties on neck of anything you make for living babies or young children. There is to high of a risk.

ü      Be careful using Velcro on living premature babies there skin is so fragile it can rib/tear easily.

ü      Do not use large buttons on preemie baby's clothes [unless at top of shirt etc] because these babies lay for long periods of time and this would get uncomfortable.

ü      Use gentle material (for sewing) such as cotton, fleece, flannel and other types that are not animal type material.

ü

We request that you wash all items you make, especially if you are sending for a premature baby.

Ø      Question: How or what do I wash my items I am donating?

5. Answers:

ü      Wash your items even if you're not a smoker. Our houses can accumulate smells from the kitchen, our pets and more. It is good to wash your items if someone has been sneezing, coughing or been sick at all in your home.

Hospitals will gladly accept any donation but if it reeks in smell they may put it in a storage closet to not use. Or the nurses will end up taking them home on their personal time and wash them themselves. Or may ask you not to donate or tell you they do not need items any further.

Babies and sick children cannot have items that have these odors in them. It can literally kill a baby in the NICU fighting for its life. So please take these simple steps ensuring that your hard work does not go un-used. And that we follow these steps so we do not put babies and children at risk.

ü      When washing hint: Wash all items, then add decorations after you get it out of dryer not before. The lace/ribbon can get caught in dryer or washing machine. (There are net bags that are fantastic to use when washing your items. Keeps all things together in Washing machine.

Since you are going to wash the items anyway when they are done, please use a fragrance-free detergent like Dreft, woolite or All Free and use 1 cup of white vinegar in the rinses (for a less full load; reduce amount to size of wash load). No dryer sheets, please. The vinegar will act as the softener as well as eliminate any odors.

ü      Get a non-smoking friend to give the items a "sniff test" before packing to send.

ü      Make sure to add a H.A.I.N. Label to your work. Give the parents an opportunity to say that you. You can find labels here: http://heavenlyangelsinneed.com/labels.html  or if you’re a member of our forum each division forum has labels to use. You can also request labels info@heavenlyangelsinneed.com I will be more then happy to send you labels to your inbox. (We do not send them slug mail) You are also welcome to make your own. As long as our organizations name and web URL is on label.

ü      Place the items in some sort of plastic bag or container as they come out of the dryer.

Ø      Question:  How do I let you know what I sent, so I can get a receipt for my donation? Even If I do not want a receipt how do I let you know so you can know? And what is Fair Market Value?

6. Answers:

ü       We ask that all donors fill out this simple on-line donation form http://heavenlyangelsinneed.com/generalforms.html  This will not only allow us to send you a receipt but it also allows us to thank you and it helps us keep track of what hospitals (or other area’s) are being reached. We try work hard to keep the list of needs met. (Thank you for doing this)

ü      Fair market value is how much you could sell your item on the market (i.e. goodwill, garage sale, ebay) If your item is not new then you could not sell your item for a new price etc.  We do not sale your items, but have to keep track of items and worth when doing our taxes for our charity. We want to offer a receipt to you for your items and would like to list how much you list on your receipt we send.

ü        We cannot guarantee the time you will receive your donation. All are made by volunteers. We list all requests we receive onto a spreadsheet we keep on our craft forum. ü        We will be offering caskets free of charge to parents who cannot afford a casket. Not all cases will be approved. We will ask families to talk to their local funeral home first before requesting a casket. Many funeral homes will help cover costs or even donate caskets to families upon request. Many cities offer this as well. If you need our help in this please let us know. We will do our best to help you if you need. If your area does not offer caskets then please let us know. We will need the funeral home name you will be going through to send the casket too directly. We will need your baby’s size and weight and name and sex of baby.
